Media Fluency

Media fluency is communicating knowledge not only in the written form but in speech, and using multiple multimedia formats to communicate comprehension and convince others of of a viewpoint.  Communication has moved past the realm of text.  Our world is full of visual learning, so the knowledge of how to use digital resources in a variety of settings is a must for our students future success.

There are two components of media fluency, one for input and one for output.

Listen:  Students need to actively listen and decode communication received by various forms of media.  Students need to ability to decipher the clear concise message as well as the unconscious underlying message.  Students need to understand the message as well as the medium that was used to submit the message.

Leverage:  Students need a toolbox of digital tools that they have at their disposal, to use and choose the correct one when considering  their audience when creating productions and publishing their message.
