Other things you can do:

Instruments: Smart vs. Standard
There are two types of instruments in Garageband. Standard instruments and Smart instruments. The standard instruments play like a normal musical instrument and do not have any built-in assistance. The Smart instruments come with a variety of loops, that are great for beginners and make creating music easy.

Recording a Track

Once you have practiced and are ready to go, tap the red record button to begin recording your track. The metronome will count you in, and the red bar that moves across your screen shows you are recording. Make a mistake? Tap the Undo button to try again. By default Garageband only records for 8 bars of music, but you can change that by tapping the plus sign in the top right hand corner and turning automatic on.

Recording a 2nd, 3rd or 4th Track

After you have the first track done, you can change instruments by tapping the Instruments button in the top left. Press the play button to hear the first track and practice your second track by playing on top of it. Once you are good to go, tap record and record your additional track.

Editing your tracks

Tap the button in the toolbar with the horizontal bars. This will take you to the track editor. Here you can trim tracks, adjust volume on each track, add some of Apple's loops, change the tempo and a whole lot more. Start by swiping from the left of the screen to the right, then tap the menu buttons at the top of the screen to explore your options.

Export your songs

You can export your songs by email, to YouTube, SoundCloud, or Facebook. You can even save it to use as a ringtone for FaceTime, or as a music track for an iMovie project! Simply tap My Songs from the toolbar, then Edit in the top right hand corner. Tap on the song you want to export, and then the share arrow to choose how you want to export it.
