Manipulated Photo

8   DIFFERENT    Categories

Students take an original photo and then change the appearance into a totally new image.  Students can use any software/apps to manipulative photos to submit in this category.  They must describe in a description how they changed the image with the software/app.

When the manipulatived photo is submitted the original one must be as well, so the depth of manipulation can be judged.  These can be printed or received digitally.

The following are the 8 genres of manipulated photographs that will be judged:  Each genre will use the rubric above, they will just be judged against photos that are similar.  This category has been hard to judge in the past because the photos are so different.

(Schools can enter 5 in every genre)

  1. Portraits:  a photo of a person especially one depicting only the face, or head and shoulders

  2. Landscapes: photo that shows spaces in the world

  3. Cityscapes: photo that shows the aspects of a city

  4. Still life: a photo of a inanimate object or small group of objects

  5. Action: a photo that shows someone or something in motion

  6. Wildlife: a photo documenting some form of wildlife in its habitat
